Frequently Asked Questions

Your ultimate rental guide - everything you need to know about renting and lending on Club Tia

Listing & Renting

Hop onto the app, hit the + symbol, and start uploading those gems. Pictures and videos are key, so make sure your item looks its absolute best. Give all the deets - size, fit, brand and how amazing you felt wearing it. Once you're happy, publish, and your wardrobe is making you money!

Absolutely! You have full control over your wardrobe. Hide listings whenever you like - perfect if you're taking a break or rethinking your fashion lineup. Holiday mode lets you pause your entire profile while you take a breather. You can also mark items as unavailable for specific dates if you have plans for them yourself. Your wardrobe, your rules.

Nope - right now we don't charge a commission, so what you earn is yours to keep! That said, Stripe processing and service fees apply and you'll be paid net of that. So just a heads-up, your payout will reflect that small deduction.

Also, be sure to check out the sections below on cleaning and postage fees - you can factor those into your pricing to make sure you're fully covered!

Fit & Suitability

We don't offer refunds if something doesn't fit or suit your vibe. We highly recommend that you're familiar with the brand and its sizing before renting. When in doubt, check the size guides, ask the lender for extra details, or opt for a Try-On first!

Tia Try-On

Try-On lets you borrow an item just to check the fit and feel before committing to a full rental. Think mirror moment, not main character energy. It follows the same flow as a normal booking but comes with a few important limits.

When an item has Try-On enabled, you'll see a "Request Try-On" button just above "Reserve Now." Tap it, check out as usual, and the item will be sent to you for a short try-on period only.

Try-On is available for one day only. Once the item is delivered, it must be marked as returned within 24 hours. Try-On is not available on weekends.

There's a fixed €10 Try-On fee. Postage is paid by the borrower. You can optionally add Tia Protect at checkout for extra peace of mind.

Nope - Try-On is strictly for at-home try-on only. That means no nights out, no events, and no photoshoots. Return the item exactly how you received it: on time, clean, odour-free and with no signs of wear beyond a gentle try-on.

If a Try-On item is returned late, or returned with signs of wear beyond reasonable try-on (stains, smells, damage, alterations), Tia may charge the full standard rental fee for the item, plus any applicable late or damage fees, in line with our Terms & Conditions.

Yes, if you add it! Tia Protect works the same way for Try-On as it does for standard rentals, covering accidental damage only, up to €100. It does not cover late returns, loss or theft, or wear beyond reasonable try-on.

Not at all. Try-On is completely optional for lenders. If you accept a try-on request, you're agreeing to send the item in a clean, wearable condition and inspect it promptly when it's returned.

Because sizing can be tricky, brands vary wildly, and sometimes you just need to see how something feels. Try-On helps borrowers rent with confidence and helps lenders avoid longer rentals that don't work out. Win-win.

Cancellations & Returns

No stress - we get that plans change! You can cancel your rental anytime up to 5 days before the rental start date by heading to your bookings and tapping cancel. Please note that Stripe transaction fees and payment processing fees will be charged to the party who cancels (Lender or Borrower), as these costs are non-refundable and charged by third-party payment providers.

Cancellations are not permitted within 5 days of the rental start date, and the full rental fee will apply.

The standard rental period is 4 days. When submitting a rental request, you'll be booking the item for this set timeframe. Pricing is charged per rental (not per day), so the total cost stays the same for the full 4-day period.

Late Returns

Lenders can charge a late fee of up to the daily rental price for each day the item is overdue, at their discretion. So, if you're running behind, let them know and try to return it ASAP.

Damages, Loss & Theft

Okay, deep breaths! If your piece returns with a bit more character than it left with, chat with the borrower first to figure out a fix. Most times, it's something a little TLC can fix. If it's beyond repair, here's what to do:

Snap clear photos and/or take a video of the damage as soon as you notice it. We'll need these as proof when mediating and finding a fair resolution. Reach out to the borrower and try to come to a fair resolution together. Most issues can be sorted with a friendly chat! If you can't agree on a solution, report the damage to us ASAP. We'll step in to help mediate and find the best outcome.

Accidents happen, but we've got your back. Remember, wear and tear is part of the rental game, but we're here to make sure everything is handled smoothly and fairly!

First of all, don't panic - accidents happen! Tia currently works on a trust basis, meaning we expect all borrowers to care for items as if they were their own. If something unfortunate happens:

Be Honest & Document It - Take clear photos and/or a video of the damage and let the lender know straight away. Transparency is key! Chat with the lender and try to come to a fair resolution together. Most issues can be solved with open communication. If you can't agree, our team is here to help mediate and find a fair outcome for both sides.

The best policy? Treat every item with care, just like you'd want yours to be treated!

Borrowers are responsible for returning the item on time and in the condition it was received. If an item is lost, stolen or damaged beyond repair, the borrower is liable for up to the full market value of the item, as per our Terms and Conditions. If you can't agree on a resolution together, reach out to us at hello@clubtia.com and we'll step in to help.

Tia Protect

Tia Protect is an optional €10 add-on at checkout that gives extra peace of mind when renting. It covers accidental damage like stains, rips or broken zips, with repair costs covered up to €100. If repairs exceed €100, the borrower will pay the difference (up to the item's full market value). It's not a free pass to be careless, but it's a simple way to rent with confidence and less stress.

Tia Protect covers accidental damage with approved repair costs up to €100. It does not cover damage above €100 (you pay the difference), loss or theft of the item, damage caused by misuse, neglect or failure to follow care instructions, or intentional damage.

Any damage or loss should be reported by the lender within 48 hours of receipt of the item. The borrower will then have 3 days to respond and share photos or details. Our team then reviews the claim and if approved, we cover repairs up to €100. If repair costs exceed €100, the borrower will cover the excess. If the item is lost or beyond repair, the borrower is liable for the full value.

Tia Protect is completely optional, but it's perfect for higher-value or delicate pieces, keeping the rental process smoother and more stress-free for everyone.

Trust & Safety

Tia is built on a community of fashion lovers, so reviews and ratings are key! Always check a user's profile before renting. If something feels off, let us know - reach out to us at hello@clubtia.com.

Yes, you must be at least 18 years old to rent or lend items on Tia.

Shipping & Returns

Totally understandable! We recommend sending your pieces via tracked and insured post. That way, you can keep an eye on its journey and have peace of mind. And don't forget to snap some pics of your item before sending it off - just in case!

Both lenders and borrowers are responsible for sending items via a reliable tracked method, ensuring it reaches its destination safely and on time. Borrowers should confirm the receipt and lenders confirm return via the marketplace ASAP. We recommend using tracked shipping services for transparency and security.

Borrowers usually cover the postage fee (unless the lender offers free shipping as a perk!).

If an item is lost during postage, the responsibility lies with the party arranging the shipment. We encourage the use of tracked shipping to mitigate such risks. In case of disputes, Tia's support team can assist in finding a fair resolution based on our policies and the evidence provided.

Send it back using the agreed-upon method. Whether it's by post or an in person hand-off, make sure it gets back to the lender on time and in the same condition.

Tia currently focuses on the Irish market. For now, rentals are limited to users within Ireland. Stay tuned for updates as we grow and let us know where you'd love to see Tia next!

Cleaning

The lender is responsible for all cleaning, ensuring their items are fresh and rental-ready. Borrowers should never attempt to clean a rented item - some fabrics require special care and we don't want any accidental mishaps!

The Lender can include cleaning costs in the rental fee, so there are no surprises. And borrowers, please return the items as neatly as you received them.

If an item arrives in a less than loveable condition, snap some pics and contact the lender immediately. If things get tricky, reach out to us for support.

Pricing & Payments

We process all payments securely through Stripe, accepting major credit and debit cards. This ensures a smooth, secure, and swift transaction for both parties. Payments are released to the lender once the rental period ends. You can expect funds to reach your account within 10 working days after the transaction closes smoothly. However, if a dispute is raised by either party, there may be delays in payment release while we investigate and work towards a fair resolution.

Once your rental request is accepted by the lender, your payment method will be charged right away to secure the booking. However, that money doesn't go straight to the lender. Instead, your payment is held securely by our payment partner, Stripe, and only released after the rental period has ended and both sides have had the chance to confirm that everything went smoothly.

This delay helps protect both parties: Lenders know the funds are secured before handing over their items, and Borrowers have peace of mind knowing the item must arrive as described for payment to be finalized. If a dispute arises, Tia's team may step in to mediate before any payout is made.

A good rule of thumb for pricing is 15-30% of the original retail value, but don't forget to factor in the brand, condition and demand - if it's a cult classic, you can price accordingly! This range is a sweet spot that ensures lenders can earn back their investment over time while keeping rentals affordable for borrowers.

The rental price is set per rental and you should take into account any additional costs you incur, such as dry cleaning or special packaging, to ensure your pricing covers your expenses and remains competitive. Postage is added separately at checkout, with the lender setting the price and the borrower covering the cost.

While Tia does not directly regulate rental prices, our platform provides market insights and feedback from the community to help lenders set competitive and fair prices. We encourage transparency and fairness in pricing to foster a trustworthy and vibrant rental marketplace.

Off-App Transactions

Nope! For your safety and security all transactions must go through the app. Off-app transactions bypass our secure payment and dispute resolution systems, and we cannot offer support or mediation in such cases.

Reviews

After the rental ends, both lenders and borrowers can leave feedback. Honest and respectful reviews help our community thrive!

We recommend addressing any concerns raised in a negative review professionally. If you think a review is unfair or violates our guidelines, contact our support team for an evaluation.

Our Liability

While Tia provides the platform, your wardrobe is your business! The contractual relationship is directly between the lender and borrower. If things do get a little awkward, don't fret - we can help! Reach out if you need support.

Tips & Tricks

Yes you can and we hope you do! Tia is all about fashion in all its forms - we don't discriminate! If your vintage piece is looking for some love, list it! There's definitely someone out there dreaming of your retro gem.

Think of your listing like your item's dating profile. Great photos, a catchy description, and all the lovely details (size, fit, how it makes you feel amazing!) can make your listing the belle of the ball. Be honest, be real, and show off that unique style!

Don't lose heart! Sometimes it's about finding the right match at the right time. Consider tweaking your listing, maybe lower the price a bit, or change up those photos. And remember, fashion is always on the move - what might not be hot one month could be the next big thing the next!

We highly recommend uploading original photos and videos of the item on you or someone wearing it so potential renters can get the full vibe and fit. The more real, the better - it helps others see how it moves, fits and flatters. Include close-ups of any irregularities, snags or signs of love, show different angles and use natural light. Basically, show your item the way you'd want to see it before renting.

Caught feelings? We love when matches are made on Tia, but we're all about rental, for now. Keep an eye on our platform and socials for updates - we've got big plans!
